This picture was taken from a Sister SF party in San Francisco, and it was such a lovely creative welcoming vibe, I was honoured to be a part of it. When I planned my first tour to North America, I had the attitude, well, if I get enough gigs in any one city then I will get a flight there!

That turned out to be Toronto, Vancouver, and San Francisco.. I also ended up in Ottawa that first year, Quebec City, and round and about SF like San Jose, Santa Cruz, Oakland etc.

It’s so amazing to me, then and still now, that no matter where you are in the world, people love music. People live for music. That probably sounds cheesy, but cheesy or not, its so true. People buy vinyl from me now from Discogs, and I have sent my music out ALL OVER the world. Sometimes I have to zoom out about 5 times just to see where they are. I don’t always look but the more obscure the address, the more curious I am.

I am forever grateful that I was able to spend a lot of time touring as a DJ in my early twenties, and can’t wait to get back to it!!!

This was my first time in San Francisco and I loved it so much it was to be the first of many trips over there. Thanks to Annie who booked me, and let me stay in her apartment while she went to Burning Man! I managed to get to Burning Man myself the next year

This was taken on my first time in San Francisco, and I loved it! From Haight St, to the Mission, to Golden Gate Bridge and the Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach, I was so loving being there!

It was and still is, so inpsiring to me to be in San Francisco, its such a creative and funky (funky in a good way!!) city, I met loads of amazing people, a lot of whom are still my good friends, and it was the first of many visits.

I studied Music Technology at University, and during the summer breaks I used to book big extended tours of Canada and America, playing at all kinds of venues from small bars and afterhours, to big clubs, festivals, warehouse parties, etc.

This was a fairly big gig for where I was at at the time! The club was Nation, Toronto and it was part of a booking by Most Wanted Entertainment, who were and possibly still are a big booking agency.

This was in the backroom, but backrooms are awesome to play in because you get more freedom with the music, and if there’s seats and people are partying hard, you have a captive audience.. its an AWESOME feeling making people dance when they came in to chill out!!

This picture was taken at a club called Nation in Toronto, it was a really fun gig because the club was PACKED, and everyone was up for a good time – one of those where you don’t have to worry about keeping the crowd on the dancefloor, I had good tunes and they worked!

They used to book big headliners for the main room and big Toronto regular DJs too. It would be really fun to go back to Toronto sometime soon and I still have lots of friends there.

I am an experienced sound engineer and have produced tracks for many bands. I can set up for a studio session, engineer it, mix it, and produce it. I have done a bit of live multi track recording, at venues such as Scala, The Water Rats and the Soho Arts Centre in London.

I set up the label Intelligent Audio, which so far features artists Nigel Hayes, Forces of Nature, Rithma and Trademark. We release deep house music, tech house music, nu jazz, chill out music, afrobeat, broken beat, and lots of other eclectic stuff.

I DJ as Clare Large – I’ve played all over the place so please click the link if you’d like to know more. I DJ pretty much the same range of music as I release on Intelligent Audio, other than I love to play techno too… and for the label, I found such prolific deep and jazzy artists, Ive been focusing on that – but I will release techno as and when I have it

New Frontiers is a brilliant nu jazz track, Outworld and South Central and broken beat chill out music tracks, and Pulsar is just an outstanding piece of chill music. I had already picked tracks when I heard this and had to shuffle one off to get this on!
